THE LOSSNORTH STANDARD

Appointed by Either Party.
Independent in the Assignment.

“The objective is not to win the appraisal. The objective is to get the number right.”

LossNorth accepts appraisal assignments from insureds, carriers and other authorized parties. Each assignment is approached through the policy, documented damage, defensible scope, appropriate repair methodology and supportable pricing.

INSURANCE APPRAISAL

When two estimates tell two different stories.

Property insurance appraisal is a contractual process commonly used when the parties disagree about the amount of loss. Each party selects an appraiser. The appraisers evaluate the disputed loss and, when necessary, work with an umpire under the policy's appraisal provision.

LossNorth focuses on the amount-of-loss analysis: scope, quantities, construction methods, estimating, pricing and the evidence supporting the claimed damage.

Appraisal rights and procedures depend on the policy and applicable law. LossNorth does not provide legal advice or coverage opinions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Appraisal, without the fog.

Who can appoint LossNorth?

LossNorth accepts assignments from insureds, carriers and other authorized parties. The appraiser's role remains independent regardless of who makes the appointment.

Does LossNorth determine coverage?

No. The focus is the amount of loss within the appraisal assignment. Coverage and legal questions remain with the appropriate parties and professionals.

Do you handle commercial losses?

Yes. LossNorth handles residential, commercial and complex property appraisal assignments, including large-loss matters.

Do you work nationwide?

Yes, subject to the requirements applicable to the assignment, policy and jurisdiction.

What documents should I have ready?

Useful starting documents often include the relevant policy appraisal provision, competing estimates, the appraisal demand or correspondence, photographs, expert or engineering reports, and other material supporting the disputed amount of loss. LossNorth can identify what is actually needed after an initial review.

How are documents submitted?

LossNorth is establishing a secure large-file intake portal for policies, estimates, photographs, reports and other claim materials. Until that portal is activated, sensitive claim documents should not be sent through the public website form.

Are you available as an umpire?

LossNorth currently markets appraisal services. Umpire services are planned as a future service after the applicable credentialing is completed.
